Little MG was gifted a rather snazzy Ghanaian shirt for Christmas, made just for him. Isn’t it marvelous? Such a nice change from the denim and stripes of all his other shirts and thrown on with a pair of jeans or joggers, he has cooldom written all over him. That’s why I love printed boys’ shirts to bring out the super cool mini dude.
Much like menswear, boys’ fashion generally lacks a lot of imagination. It’s mostly pretty safe and plain, which is all good – most of the time. BUT sometimes, much like menswear, it’s good to mix it up a little, introduce bright colours, great textures and interesting prints. With MG I normally do this through his leggings or his t-shirts, but I do think there’s something to be said about a pattered shirt. It allows a creative kid to show off his character and style.
I’m a sucker for graphic prints, but delicate florals and painterly marks are a quirky choice for special occasion outfits, especially with a bow tie or a pair of braces. I’ve rounded up some of my favourite printed shirts for boys with the added bonus of some styling tips to keep them extra cool.
